“We met in 2007, both members of a bridal party.  Polite introductions took place and then we farewelled each other into our respective lives.  Two years later, circumstances had changed and we saw each other again at the bride’s 40th birthday party.  It was love at first sight really.  I remember thinking I want a future with this man.  We had a wonderful two years of dating and romance.  Sol proposed to me the following August.  It was a romantic and earthy proposal.  We were staying in our forest hut in northern Tasmania.  We went for a morning stroll through the bush.  We reached what is fondly known as The Birthday Tree, a beautiful and massive fallen tree log in the heart of the forest.  He lifted me up onto it and with a poignant and heartfelt oration, he asked me to be his wife.

Our wedding was a very casual and elegant affair, with the ceremony held late morning at Bangarra Dance Theatre.  Bangarra is at the end of Pier 4/5 in the heart of the beautiful Walsh Bay arts precinct on the edge of Sydney Harbour.  The heritage listed wharf has features dating back to the early 1800’s, showcasing both the solid workmanship and architectural style of the era.  The venue speaks for itself, being adorned with only some very simple and beautiful florals and a pattern of while stones as finishing touches to hold the ceremony.  I arrived to the dulcet tones of an opera singing duet, accompanied by a spectacular harp.

The most integral part of my wedding day, (aside from marrying my husband) was my dress.  It was the most wonderful experience meeting Christyn of Glam Couture.  The creative process and shared vision in creating the most unique, bespoke and stylish wedding gown was one of the joyful parts of my wedding planning.

There were many details in my wedding planning that were challenging, or at times frustrating.  But my lifelong vision was to have a custom designed dress.  There was clarity about many aspects of this dress, but like I knew my husband was the one for me, I knew Christyn was the one couturier for me.  She had me at godet and French Chantilly lace!  Christyn was caring and attentive, and gently guided me to the best possible outcome.  I looked forward to our design process and fittings as moments of reward in the build up to our big event.  Obtaining the French lace that cascaded over my shoulders, matching a handmade headpiece and shoes, every tiny detail was considered.  Christyn is a beautiful and creative spirit.  I want to have my wedding all over again, simply to engage in the dressmaking process again with Christyn.”
