The Vintage Bride

The vintage bride by glam couture

It is usually uncommon for fashion trends to influence bridal wear but the last decade has been an exception to the rule.  While catwalks and ‘high street’ fashion have been proudly flaunting the retro, vintage, re-fashioned look bridal gowns and accessories have, in their own unique way, followed this trend.  Vintage bridal wear embodies the essence of the age old wedding ‘rules’ – something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.  Designers have taken cues from wedding gowns of the past and recreated the look for the modern bride with vintage lace, elaborate beading and intricate decoration adorning the gorgeous vintage gowns of today.  Inspired by the old yet a perfect representation of the new, a vintage bride gown carries a hint of ‘0ld-world’ charm in a relatively contemporary design.
The vintage theme continues to trend and with so many vintage inspired dresses and accessories available it really allows the bride to create her own unique wedding style.  The dress is always important to a bride but, for the woman who wants to create a vintage-inspired look, the emphasis is on detail and accessories.  A Spanish mantilla can enhance a wedding gown.  Feathers in the hair or an elegant fascinator can create an element or fanciful fun.  A headband with floral detail or a bow can add style to your wedding look.  Much like the gown accessories are all about elegance and intricate detail.
Often the vintage bride wears a piece of jewellery that is a family heirloom.  However, with so much exquisite vintage jewellery available these days, you can choose gorgeous pieces that will match your gown and style perfectly.
You can even add peep-toe shoes and red lipstick.
